Zimbabwe at 40

A prayer for the nation of Zimbabwe as it turns 40

So Joshua said to the people of Israel, “How long are you going to wait before you go in and take the land that the LORD , the God of your ancestors, has given you? Joshua 18:3

It is 40 years today since Zimbabwe achieved independence. Since then, the country has depreciated, suffered and toiled. Like the Israelite's, we have wandered in the desert, suffered plagues, gotten lost, faced battles, faced new laws, seen growth, seen loss, yet we live and continue to see miracles and God's amazing provision in ways that we cannot comprehend.

This time of global lockdowns as we face the Covid-19 challenges is a momentous and miraculous opportunity for world change. And it had to happen as Zimbabwe turned 40! We cannot celebrate this milestone, quietly locked away in our homes. This cannot be a coincidence...

Lord almighty, creator of heaven and earth. We thank you for this day and this time. As we recently celebrated the Passover, we thank you for the protection of your people from the ravages of Covid-19 across Africa and it's people. We pray that this season, your covering shall remain steadfast upon us, as you protected the Israelite's in Egypt against the plague on 1st borns.

Father, I especially place the nation of Zimbabwe into your hands today. After 40 years of independence, we celebrate this day with no fanfare. We have crossed the desert and faced much hardship. We pray that you shall lead us now into the promised land. That we shall go into this new season with confidence and courage to take the land. That our children and their children shall find new land and opportunities of abundance, milk and honey within our nation. That our leaders shall command your nation with integrity, honour and fear of Your name. That they shall rule to Your will and your people shall follow your ways and avoid the ways of mamon

We commit our nation into your hands. We thank you for your Grace and we look to the future with optimism that we shall take that promised land for our children and their children.

In Jesus name we pray...
