African SME Business Shall Recover from #Covid-19 Shutdowns

Several articles are publishing doom and gloom for African small-scale businesses during this pandemic. Without Government support, how shall they resume?

The point being missed is these businesses didn't get Government support to setup in the first place. Those same entrepreneurs and technicians shall need to get up and earn, whatever the case. The western worlds incentives, offered to businesses are beautiful to see on the news, we imagine having them in Africa, but the reality is they won't happen. So we move forward... We shall moan and groan. Then reality shall sink in (if it hasn't already) and we shall be back to reopening those stores with the vigor of the past. My encouragement, businesses shall restart, with or without Government financing. The scales shall change. Some shall grow bigger and others shall trim. New enterprises shall arise. This is the time for African businesses to take advantage of the worldwide supply gaps, regroup and come back stronger. Stop imports and produce locally. Look at products we ordinarily import and produce them locally (see this example from Kenya).

We don't only need Government capital to restart... we need good ideas and oodles of energy, that we already are... African economies shall recover beyond the doom and dire-straits predicted by the world economies
